Building Leadership Around Sustainable Transformation (BLAST) provides students with the tools, information, and guidance they need to create real climate and environmental solutions through the BLAST Competition and BLAST Internship programs.

Highlights from 2025

Our second annual of Building Leadership Around Sustainable Transformation (BLAST) was a resounding success, reaching 60 students and dozens of community members. Winning projects included a program to recover excess food from restaurants and a board game to teach about climate solutions.

The summer internship program gave 50 students real-world experience creating solutions. The program doubled in size from the previous summer, and for the first time included 5 students living in the Solomon Islands, a country in the South Pacific at the frontlines of climate change.

A highlight of the summer internship was The World We Inherit: A Climate Gallery art exhibit, which reached approximately 150 community members, including many elected officials.
