On Sunday, July 12th, Accelerate Climate Solutions is concluding the Walk-A-Thon for Climate Hope fundraiser at Knock Knolls Park where interns will gather to enjoy nature. The walk-a-thon fundraiser supports the youth-led fight against climate change and the loss of biodiversity. This walk provides both a social event for the interns and a final push in fundraising, empowering our organization's youth. 

This third-annual walk-a-thon was conceived to ensure that young people have opportunities to develop their climate and environmental advocacy skills. Through the years, young people have appreciated and learned from intergenerational advice. We encourage adult participation in and support of Accelerate Climate Solutions. Whether board members, donors, mentors, judges, or volunteers, each individual interaction can make a difference and shape youth leaders. 

Ultimately, we must rely on our innate human connection to fight climate change. As individuals we are only able to do so much. But together, we are able to protect our local community and cherish nature at scale. Each individual has value and an ability to contribute to something larger. Bonding through discussion and nature, we seek to strengthen our purpose. Whether you care about a climate change that  directly affects your family or simply want to preserve this planet for future generations, the only way we will fix this is together. The biggest difference we can make is when we come together, amplifying the voices for conservation and supporting each other’s passions. 

This summer, the fundraising enables more than 75 youth interns to tackle issues relating to their personal interests. With more than ten student independent projects, Accelerate Climate Solutions funds grants to make their climate solutions a possibility. The funding provides our interns the opportunity to use facilities, attend events and listen to expert speakers. Given the sheer amount of interns and opportunities, Accelerate Climate Solutions utilizes the summer Walk-A-Thon to fund operations and empower youths.
