On Monday, June 18th, a group of interns from Accelerate Climate Solutions took a trip to the College of DuPage Library to check out their philanthropy database. It’s a super useful tool that helps nonprofits find funders who care about things like climate and sustainability—basically, people and organizations who want to support the kind of work we’re doing.
We got to practice using filters, keywords, and different categories to look up grant opportunities, and even found a few funders whose missions lineup with ours. “It was really helpful to learn how to search for potential funders and understand what kinds of organizations support climate action—not just for the work we’re doing now, but for any climate projects we might do later on in our lives,” said intern Praneeth Doddi.

After the workshop, we took a short walk through the beautiful Russell R. Kirt Tallgrass Prairie right on campus. It was a nice way to end the day and a reminder that when people care, they can come together to create powerful change and make a meaningful impact.
