Remake the Future: The Motivation Behind the Upcycling Extravaganza

Each day, millions of items from tin cans to plastics to electronics are discarded without a second thought. Accelerate Climate Solutions is partnering with N.E.S.T (Naperville Environment and Sustainability Task Force) and First Congregational Church of Christ to host its first fix-it fair on August 1st. Doubling as an upcycling education event, the event aims to motivate the Naperville community to live more sustainably while bringing people together.

Accelerate Climate Solutions encourages everyone to attend this event to learn how people can make use of household items in their daily lives.

Currently, 10 youth interns are working hard each week to bring this event to life as part of Accelerate Climate Solutions BLAST Summer Internship Program. Their goal is to decrease the amount of waste in the community. While pollution is a worldwide issue, every area, big or small, matters. By targeting Naperville, the interns want to tackle pollution head-on using a local approach that teaches individuals to focus on each step of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

The event will feature free repair stations, workshops, games, an upcycled craft sale, tabling from local organizations, and other hands-on activities. Please visit the ReMake The Future Section of our website to learn more and register. All are invited to attend.

Accelerate Climate Solutions hopes the Naperville community takes advantage of this student led initiative and is able to learn a thing or two about sustainable living.
