Future Council

What happens when we listen to children? Businesses, governments, and individuals are inspired to reduce carbon emissions, address pollution, and create more sustainable communities.

In partnership with Naperville Neighbors United, Accelerate Climate Solutions was pleased to present a screening of Future Council and a panel discussion featuring our very own youth on November 16, 2025 at the Matrix Club in Naperville.

About the film

Millions of children around the world are frustrated by the dire lack of action to protect the planet and their future. Until now, their only avenue to express these concerns has been protesting on the streets.

Director Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film) takes eight children on an epic adventure across Europe in a school bus powered by biofuel. Their mission is to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and, most importantly, take the conversation from the streets, into the boardrooms of some of the world’s largest polluters and most influential companies.

Their bold, hopeful journey leads to the creation of a Future Council: young changemakers working with big business to shape a better world.

The youth panel, featuring Andrea (moderator), Jimena, Rakshita, Adi, and Helen, was the highlight of the afternoon. The students shared how they have gotten involved in local climate action and the difference it has made in their own lives. They provided tips on living more sustainably, such as composting, thrifting, and buying less. They highlighted important local climate issues, such as Naperville's reliance on coal. They ably fielded questions from the audience. And, they inspired the audience to do their part to create a sustainable future for all.
