On June 14, we had the privilege of tabling at Naperville Neighbors United’s Juneteenth Festival. It was a powerful day of community, celebration, and connection. Meeting a variety of new people, from local elected leaders to members of other sustainability organizations, we had many meaningful conversations about climate solutions. One highlight was speaking with Saba Haider, member of the DuPage County Board. Our “Climate Connections” exhibit motivated many new people to join our newsletter. We were honored to highlight the critical role African & Black communities have played in environmental justice. We left the day inspired and committed to keeping equity and inclusion at the heart of our climate work.
