Our interns aren’t the only ones hard at work. About 30 volunteers are also busy helping the organization this summer.

Seven teams of volunteers are doing everything from creating art, to collecting raffle prizes from local businesses. (Can your business help? Donate here!) Volunteers are from high schools and colleges in the area committed to helping with the climate crisis.
Alyssa, a volunteer with the Climate Creatives team says, “At Accelerate Climate Solutions, I've worked with other artists with an interest in environmental advocacy, which not only inspires me, but helps all of us make a bigger difference.”

Another team of volunteers are working to further develop their BLAST projects, “Sustainix” and “Chicagoland’s Eco Voyager.” Sustainix, the brainchild of our intern Rakshita Ruparel, is a sustainability platform that helps small businesses reduce their environmental impacts through targeted consulting and educational resources. Chicagoland’s Eco Voyager, Intern Jimena Argueta’s BLAST project is an interactive website to help tourists in Chicago travel eco-responsibly. (BLAST sponsors an annual competition for high school students developing projects for local climate solutions. Learn more here!).
All paid and volunteer interns are also given the opportunity to speak to the City Council, meet with elected officials, and more. Civic engagement is one of the many ways our students learn about the importance of politics and local government in climate action.
Interns and volunteers have already found their experience beneficial to their futures. We are excited to see all that they do this summer!
