Now that you know what the morning team is up to, it’s time to find out how the afternoon team is keeping busy.

“Program Building” is our name for the afternoon team. Interns are researching grants, creating a newsletter, and expanding the organization’s network. They went on a field trip to College of DuPage to learn more about grant applications. Becca, an intern who participated in this trip, says, “It was very interesting to learn about how grants are given out and the details that are needed to write a good application. The skills I learned from using the database and compiling grant makers will be very helpful in my future career.”

The team also created materials for our Juneteenth tabling event. Intern Praneeth says, “creating the tabling flyers and researching climate justice
for Juneteenth provided valuable insight into environmental racism and how it exists within our community.”

The afternoon team’s projects are great for developing organizational and project management skills. Bavya, one of our interns, says, “it’s really interesting to learn more about the administrative, back-end work that goes into our climate events and activism. I am going into aerospace engineering, so being able to develop these organizational skills will be essential for my future career.”
Stay tuned to read what the volunteers are doing!
